Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about SwingFish, the community, and how things work around here.
Community
SwingFish is a community of traders and investors. We build free tools, share knowledge on the blog, and hang out on Discord. We are not a hedge fund, signal provider, or financial advisor.
Head to Crew → Discord and click the connect button. If your Discord email matches your blog account, you'll be logged into both automatically.
First Mates are trusted community members on Discord. All moderators are First Mates, but not all First Mates are moderators — it's a trust level earned through active participation. First Mates get access to exclusive areas like the Book Club.
The Crew page is where all community features live — your dashboard, blog posts, downloads, the book club, Discord connection, and page editing. Some sections are public, others require a WordPress or Discord login. Each section shows a badge indicating what access level is needed.
Yes. Sign in with your WordPress account on the Crew → My Posts page. You can write trade journals, market analysis, strategy breakdowns, or anything trading-related. Posts go through review before publishing.
Contributing & Editing Pages
Many pages are community-editable via GitHub. Visit Crew → Edit Pages to see a list of all editable pages. Click the Edit button next to any page to open it in the GitHub editor, make your changes, and submit a pull request. No SwingFish account needed — just a free GitHub account.
Live means the GitHub version is what visitors see — your edits go live once merged. Inactive means the page currently uses an older version that hasn't been migrated yet; edits won't appear until the page is activated, but you can still prepare improvements and preview them if you're logged in.
Logged-in users can click the Preview button on inactive pages in the Edit Pages list to see the GitHub version rendered on the site. This lets you check how changes will look before they're activated.
Trading Tools & Downloads
Yes. All SwingFish tools are free. The download links go through Ko-fi pages set to "pay what you want" at $0 — donations are entirely optional and always appreciated, but never required.
Public downloads are available to everyone without signing in. The Crew → Downloads page also has a members-only section for beta releases and extras — that requires a WordPress or Discord login.
Most tools are built for cTrader (indicators and algos in .algo format). Check each tool's page for specific platform requirements and installation instructions.
